Project Life

The Rotaract Club of Achievers Lanka Business School, this year strives to make a sustainable difference to the society helping an area of the community in dire need.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has become a major health problem in rural Sri Lanka. Over 22,000 deaths from the disease have been recorded in the Anuradhapura District in the North Central Province since CKD was first identified in 1991. It is known to be caused mainly by harmful chemicals used in farming and paddy cultivation, contaminating the waterways, which is consumed by people of this area.

Clean water is a compulsory necessity for these poverty and disease stricken people. Therefore, the club has decided to partner with the Lanka Rain Water Harvesting Forum to install Rain Water Harvesting Systems (RWH) in several affected communities in Kebithigollawa in the North Central Province. The community does not have access to pipe water and therefore finding clean drinking water is very difficult.
